"Once again, Hexxus, known for Ghast Misanthropia and Inbrydling, brings the filth-laden blackened punk. While Heathen Enchantment is certainly in the vein of the resurgent Ildjarn-worship legions emanating through contemporary black metal, Hexxus proves once again his ability to craft riffs within a style that breath new life while perfectly and succinctly encapsulating what makes that particular brand of black metal great in the first place.
Vicious gnawing vocals punctuate the bombastic, ferocious, and blunt music perfectly. The production isn’t overdone but isn’t so raw that it overpowers the album’s intent. Like most of the work that Hexxus has unleashed, the instrumentation on this album is well-executed without venturing into the ostentatious realm. The proper focus is the songs themselves, and everything played, sung, and produced is in service of the tracks. This kind of emphasis on not overly embellishing compositions and putting the focus on what the song/album needs has become characteristic of Hexxus’ work and proves why his work is not to be ignored."
