Under the Dark Soil

Absolutely riveting split between these two excellent acts. A true alliance consumated by the oceanic currents emerges, with the Cornish tyrant, Nostalggia on one side, the Portland-based, Collier d'Ombre in the other, a recent project from the just deceased Vrasubatlat circle, formed by Root of Ichor and Necklace of Shadows (Adzalaan, Triumvir Foul, Utzalu, etc.).

Nostalggia does what he does best, taking us from oceanic caves to cosmic heights with his extraordinary idiosyncratic riffing style, here appearing to have some influence from the works of Antimessiah, and always accompanied by the absolutely brutal programmed drums. Some excellent synth work here present as well, addss to the alchemic grandeur of this project.

Collier d'Ombre, makes here its second release, following up to the just released self-titled debut demo, on Vrasubatlat's final batch. A more primitive take, but nonetheless daring in composition, with excellent eerie keyboard work and some more melodic passages that remind me of Vilkacis, but also definitely a more Death Metal leaning side not too different from Triumvir Foul or Morbid Sphere.
