With this initial offering, they have created a concise yet intimidating and disquieting piece that haunts and begs repeated listens. Opening with a brief yet impactful keyboard and pounding drum intro, the melodic undertone is set early on. Once the riffs kick in, there is little reprieve until the 17-minute demo concludes. While they don’t reinvent the raw black metal wheel, the level at which they deliver on the promise of the genre is nearly unparalleled in modern black metal. Brash, triumphant melodies are delivered in a brutal and rasping aural flurry.
